About KiwiBudget and Bryder

KiwiBudget is a New Zealand budgeting app, built in Invercargill. It connects to New Zealand banks read-only through Akahu, builds a budget around your real pay cycle, and tracks bills, goals and KiwiSaver in New Zealand dollars. It launches on iOS and Android on 16 November 2026.

KiwiBudget Limited is owned by Bryder Holdings Ltd (Bryder Group), a small company that builds and runs its own businesses from the bottom of the South Island. We design, build and support everything core in-house, and we plan for the long term.

The role

KiwiBudget launches on 16 November 2026, and we need someone to help people hear about it in a way that suits a money app: calm, clear and honest. You will run our social media from day to day, make the content, build relationships with the people and places that help New Zealanders with money, and keep track of what is actually working.

It is a new role, so you will help shape how KiwiBudget talks to people. You will work closely with Jack, and you will see the effect of your work quickly.

What you'll do

  • Plan and run the launch and the months after it with Jack: what we say, where, and when.
  • Post and reply on TikTok, Instagram and Facebook most working days, in KiwiBudget's voice.
  • Make short videos, simple graphics and posts, and write captions, emails and the odd blog post.
  • Look after our community: answer comments and messages, and pass account questions to support.
  • Build partnerships with places that help people with money, such as GP clinics, budgeting services, libraries and community groups.
  • Write and send email updates to the people who have signed up to hear from us.
  • Report what is working each month in plain numbers, and suggest what to try next.
  • Keep every claim honest: no hype, no promises that anyone will save money, and nothing that reads as financial advice.

What you'll bring

  • Experience running social media for a business, a cause or yourself, with examples you can show us.
  • Clear, warm writing in New Zealand English, and an eye for a simple graphic or a short video.
  • Enough comfort with numbers to say what worked, what didn't, and why.
  • Good judgement about money topics. Many people who use KiwiBudget are under pressure, and the tone has to respect that.
  • The organisation to keep a content calendar going and follow up with partners without being chased.
  • The right to work in New Zealand.

Nice to have

  • Experience with community organisations, health services, budgeting services or not-for-profits.
  • Short-form video editing, in CapCut or something like it.
  • Email tools, and the analytics in Meta, TikTok and email reports.
  • Connections with communities around New Zealand, including Māori and Pasifika communities.
  • The basics of the Fair Trading Act and the advertising standards codes.

How we work

  • Remote, anywhere in New Zealand. Work from home or wherever suits you, as long as you are based in New Zealand.
  • Part-time, 20 hours a week, on New Zealand time. The hours are flexible within the working week. We agree a regular pattern together, with enough overlap for calls and questions.
  • Small and direct. You report to Jack Ridder, the founder, and work with him day to day. Decisions are quick, and your work is seen.
  • Honest with people's money. No hype and no pressure. KiwiBudget doesn't give financial advice, and neither do we, in anything we write or say.
  • Equipment: having your own laptop and a reliable internet connection is a plus, but not essential.

Pay and benefits

  • $34 an hour, before tax. At 20 hours a week that is $680 a week, before tax.
  • KiwiSaver: if you are a member, we add 3.5% of your gross pay on top. That is the legal minimum for employers since 1 April 2026.
  • Annual leave: four weeks' paid leave a year after your first 12 months, as the Holidays Act gives.
  • Sick leave: 10 days' paid sick leave a year once you have been with us for six months. Unused days carry over, up to 20.
  • Public holidays: paid when they fall on a day you would normally work.
  • Other leave: bereavement leave and family violence leave, as the law gives.

New leave laws are due to start in 2028. When they do, your leave follows them.
